About the GK Cat Project
Discover the GK Cat Experience
The GK Cat is more than just a boat, it's a platform to experience the breathtaking lagoons of Le Morne in Mauritius like never before. The mission is to ride together, share the unique lifestyle of Mat Pendle with friends and promote Kitesurfing and its new cousin Wing Riding.
Mat is a water sport pioneer;
he launched the first kiteboarding brand Wipika almost 30 years ago with the inventor of the inflatable kite. In 2024, kiteboarding became an Olympic discipline. Mat has done nothing else in his life but ride, produce content, design products, set up production lines in China, build brands, distribute products around the world, all while working from the GK Cat. Mat wants to share his decades of experience and a deep passion for the ocean.
A Lagoon Lifestyle
This is about spending time on the water, discovering activities on and around GK like SUP winging, wingfoiling, kiteboarding, windsurfing, sustainable boat life and still conducting business with the world, truly living the lagoon lifestyle.
Ti Regate
The esteemed Mauritian sailing school managed by Christopher Corneille, who will often be found alongside the GK Cat in the Le Morne Lagoon. Ti Regate offers a wonderful introduction to the world of sailing, with traditional pirogues, a Wharram catamaran, Laser and Optimist sailboats perfect for children. Their aim is to provide that crucial first step in understanding the wind and waves, paving the way for future adventures and perhaps even the next level thrill of wing foiling aboard the GK Cat!
Le Morne Xperience
With the passionate Fernando Labonne, a familiar face around the GK Cat in the Le Morne Lagoon. Beyond his insightful guided hikes up the iconic Le Morne Brabant, Fernando is also a seasoned kite, windsurf, and surf instructor, introduced to kiteboarding 20 years ago by Mat. A long-time supporter of the GK Cat project, Fernando's deep connection to the ocean and Le Morne's spirit enriches every adventure.
Empowering the Community
The GK Cat Project, Ti Regate and Le Morne Xperience are also an initiatives close to our hearts: giving young locals free access to diverse water sports, fostering a new generation of ocean enthusiasts and future champions.
Christopher / Ti Regate sailing session briefing
Mat over the last 20 years in Le Morne has done his best to help by lending out his gear to locals around Le Morne so they could learn kiteboarding. Today, Christopher, Fredo, and others have built their small water sport business and will be part of the GK team to share their experience and ride together.

Your contribution directly supports the GK Cat project, helping us maintain the vessel, the Ti Regate boats, and Le Morne Xperience gear. Allows us to offer unique experiences, support local youth initiatives, and share the magic of Le Morne lagoons with the world. Join us on this journey!
When GK Cat is based in the Black River bay, come on board, discover Mat's lifstyle and life story, play with his toys around the GK Cat, SUP and Wing SUP, riding at sunset is a must.

Get a taste of the lagoon life, Mat will be anchored some where between Tamarin and Le Morne, check realtime position on the map below, you can come on board and share a slice of life with Mat and friends.

Chill with Christopher and Ti Regate to get your feet wet with sailing, Christopher has traditional pirogues and other cool boats perfect for feeling the wind. You can even cruise around the awesome Île aux Bénitiers and get a real taste of being on the water!

Kick it with Fernando from Le Morne Xperience, you'll often see him at Kite Lagoon Le Morne or around the GK Cat in the lagoon . He's not just awesome for guided hikes up Le Morne Brabant, but he's also a total Pro and Instructor in Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, and Surfing. Fernando also called Fredo got a real love for the ocean and the vibe of Le Morne, making every adventure with him pretty special.
